LSF Cable
Comparison between LSF & Non-LSF Cables |
It is worth noting the similarities and differences between Non LSF Cables conforming to BS:5467, BS:6004, BS:6622 and LSF Cables
conforming to BS:6724, BS:7211, BS:7835.
Conductor Cross Sections / Specifications, thicknesses of various components, Dimensions and electrical parameters of a cables
conforming to BS:5467, BS:6004, BS:6622 (Non LSF Cable) and corresponding LSF cables conforming to BS:6724, BS:7211, BS:7835
are same. Moreover, during normal operations, behaviour of Non LSF Cable and corresponding LSF cables is exactally identical.
However, when assessed by the specified tests, relevant component of cables conforming to BS:6724, BS:7211, BS:7835 produce
lower levels of smoke and corrosive products under exposure to fire, compared to corresponding cables conforming to BS:5467,
BS:6004, BS:6622.
For better understanding of the above concept, let us take a specific example.

As apparent from the above tabulation, Conductor Cross Sections / Specifications, thicknesses of various components and Dimensions
and electrical parameters of both the above cables are identical.
However, when assessed by the specified tests, relevant component of cables conforming to BS:6724 produce lower levels of smoke
and corrosive products under exposure to fire. i.e. performance of cables conforming to BS:6724 is superiour under fire situations (as
depicted vide "Terminology"), where Non-LSF cables conforming to BS:5467 lack (as briefed vide "Introduction")
